“Good work!” said Uncle Gio. He placed the slices into the oven in numerical order. He didn’t want to mix them up. “Papa Pietro would be proud!”

Pete and Penny beamed. They liked the idea that Papa Pietro would have admired their puzzle-solving skills.

Then Uncle Gio pointed to an old rolling pin sitting on the counter. “Did you know that was Papa Pietro’s rolling pin? He made it himself!”

“It’s interesting,” Elliot said. “But it’s a little too sweet. And the cheese keeps sliding off.” His sauce had orange juice in it.

“I like it,” Rupert claimed, coughing. He reached for his water glass and took a big gulp. “Could I get some more water, please?” His face was turning red. Tears were streaming down his cheeks. Chili powder was in his sauce!

“I like sugar just fine,” Mrs. Crier insisted, “but not on my pizza!” She made a face.
